King Shocks Dominates 37th SCORE San Felipe 250

In the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250, the opening round of the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship, King Shocks once again proved their mettle with a dominant performance on the roughest course of the series. Racers in 10 different classes rode King Shocks to victory in the challenging event, including an overall win for Trophy Truck racer Alan Ampudia, who set a blistering pace on the challenging course.

Ampudia’s winning week started on Thursday, when he paced the 5.10-mile qualifying course in just 5:49.583 to earn the top qualifying time of the 34 Trophy Trucks that posted a lap. His subsequent race-winning time of 4:02:21 and average speed of 70.73 miles per hour over 285 miles of racing was the fastest in race history. The win was Ampudia’s second consecutive San Felipe 250 podium after he finished second last year.

“I couldn’t be happier with how our race went in San Felipe!” said Ampudia. “Our King Shocks were key to victory, as they allowed us to set a pace that nobody could match. Even though the course was brutal, we were able to conquer it without any issues. Thanks to King for giving us an amazing platform to race with, we’re ready to go for a championship!”

But the winning was far from over when Ampudia crossed the finish line. As “beautifully brutal” as this year’s course was called, it was no match for Trophy Truck Spec winner Thor Herbst (4:31:59), the Trophy Truck Legends-winning team led by Gustavo Vildosola Sr. (4:34:59), or Wilson Motorsports’ Class 1-winning car driven by Brad Wilson (4:43:22). Their respective class victories ensured that King Shocks would sweep the unlimited car and truck wins in the event that bears their name. For Vildosola, the win also marked his ninth consecutive triumph in the Trophy Truck Legends class.

But the victories didn’t stop there. In the limited classes, Class 5 winner Eli Yee, SCORE Lites winner Mario Alcala, and Class 1/2 1600 winner Raul Ojeda boasted definitive wins of 10 minutes or more. Josh Klenske (Class 8), Cesar Gutierrez (Class 7F), and Armando Duran (Class 7X) completed the list of winners who took King Shocks to victory in San Felipe.

“We couldn’t be happier with the results of the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250,” said King Shocks president Brett King. “At King Shocks, we’re always seeking to prove ourselves against the toughest challenges in off-road, and the always demanding San Felipe course is a great example. We’re thrilled to have swept the top classes to kick off the 2024 SCORE season the right way, and we’re looking forward to carrying the momentum forward all year long. Congratulations to Alan Ampudia on a record-setting overall win and all of the other racers who rode with King to victory!”
